Important questions for your Photographer

Choosing a professional photographer is one of the most important decisions you will make for your wedding. Be sure to consider all your options and let them know that you do know what you re talking about and won t settle for second best!
It s vital to have a good relationship with your Photographer, so if they don t answer questions to your satisfaction, keep looking.
Listed below are questions you should ask your photographer before making a final decision:-
How long have you been in business?
How long have you been photographing weddings?
Are you a member of any professional organization?
Can I see the portfolio of the photographer that will shoot my wedding?
Are YOU available the date of our wedding ?
What type of deposit is required i.e. %
Should circumstances change, is the deposit refundable?
What kind of photographic equipment do you use?
What types of packages are available?
Is there a standard wedding package?
Are portraits available?
How soon after the wedding will the proofs be ready?
Who, specifically, will photograph the wedding? May I speak with him/her?
Do you do negative retouching?
How long are the negatives retained or do you retain copyright indefinitely?
How long will you stay at the Ceremony/ Reception?
What album styles are available?
What sizes of prints are offered?
Do you offer mini gift albums for relatives?
What is the cost of additional prints?
What time do you arrive/ depart?
Are the proofs included in a package, or can they be purchased?
What is the approximate cost?
Are special mountings available, and at what cost?
Is the photographer formally dressed for the wedding?
If a Photographer advises he/she is a member of a professional organisation, to be sure they are, check the IPPA website.
